All petitions must be accompanied by a $200 deposit.
A petition for entry to the National Championships may be submitted if the ability to secure an entry through the National Championships qualification criteria (103.05 -.07) has not been met. Petitions must be submitted within 48 hrs of the final regional home series qualifying event. National Championships field sizes will not be increased to accommodate a granted petition and if awarded an athlete will assume a position in the prescribed competition field.
There are two types of petitions for National Championship entry:
1- Injury Petitions will be granted based on the following criteria:
a. Current season results before the injury
Prior National Championships resultsc. Evidence that the injury impeded the ability to compete
d. Late petitions will not be reviewed.
Injury petition decisions will be awarded prior to the start of the NationalChampionships Entry Procedure.
2- General Petitions will be granted based on the following criteria:
a. Current season results
Prior National Championships resultsc. Evidence that demonstrates the ability to qualify was impeded byextenuating circumstances.
d. Late petitions will not be reviewed.
Regional event cancellations will not be considered as extenuating circumstances that impede the ability to qualify. A general petition will only be awarded if an event field at the National Championships has not reached the defined capacity.
General petition decisions will be awarded following the close of the National Championships Entry Procedure.
All petitions must be accompanied by a non-refundable $200 deposit.
The deposit will be applied towards entry fees if a petition is granted. If a petition is denied, the deposit money will be applied to the USASA National Championships Grant Fund. All decisions by the USASA Petition Review Committee shall be considered final and are not subject to appeal.
Late petitions will not be reviewed.
